The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey cares for those in need, enhances Jewish life and ensures the continuity of a vibrant Jewish community locally, in
The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey encompasses Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties and is the third largest Federation in the state of New Jersey.
The Jewish Federation serves a Jewish population of approximately 50,000 through a network of local, national and international agencies.
Locally, Federation supports a wide range of programs and services--some provided by agencies that it owns and operates, others by area synagogues, religious schools and other institutions. Local Federation agencies are: Betty & Milton Katz Jewish Community Center, The Jewish Community Foundation, Inc., Jewish Community Relations Council, Jewish Federation Publications, Jewish Senior Housing & Healthcare Service, Samost Jewish Family & Children's Service, and the Federation Department of Jewish Education.
Federation supports many national Jewish agencies involved with such important work as immigration, community relations, Jewish education and culture, and support services for local agencies.
Overseas, the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, provides funding to the Jewish Agency for Israel, which assists thousands of Jews who make aliya to Israel every year, helps young Israelis from disadvantaged backgrounds and develops programs and initiatives that foster employment for émigrés. As a participant in JAFI's Partnership 2000 initiative, Southern New Jersey has joined with other local Federations to develop a foundation for educational, cultural and economic growth in Israel's developing Dead Sea region of Arad-Tamar.
Through its funding of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey assists Jewish people in Israel and 58 countries around the world. Federation provides resources for humanitarian, cultural, Jewish education, and social service programs that sustaina and improve the quality of Jewish life in these Jewish communities.
Guiding the Federation are its Board of Directors and Executive Committee, comprised of dedicated volunteer leaders who work in partnership with Federation's professional staff. It is because the hundreds of volunteers involved in the daily activities of the Federation come from all sectors of the community that Federation is viewed as the Jewish communities central address.
The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey is located on the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Jewish Community Campus at 1301 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill.
